Dardanup is a rural town located in the South West region of Western Australia, approximately 20 km south-east of Bunbury. The town is situated in the Shire of Dardanup and has a population of around 2,000 people. The area was traditionally inhabited by the Wardandi Noongar Aboriginal people, who had a rich cultural history in the region.

European Settlement

The first European settlement in the Dardanup area was established in the 1840s, when pioneers started to explore the fertile land along the banks of the Ferguson River. The town of Dardanup was gazetted in 1894 and became an important hub for the dairy, timber and agriculture industries. The construction of the South Western Railway in the early 1900s further boosted the town's growth and development.
